Serafina's Promise - Book Review

Hey guys! This week I’ll be sharing my new all time favorite book, Serafina’s Promise by Ann E. Berg, this book is so motivational and inspirational. It makes you appreciate everything you have so much! This book made me realize how lucky I am to have things such as education and access to food and water.

The book follows the journey of Serafina, a girl who lives in Haiti. She's an only child and she spends all day collecting water and doing chores. Becoming a doctor is Serafina’s dream, but in order to be a doctor you have to go to school. In order to go to school you have to pay a lot of money. Serafina comes from a family who lives in poverty, so they are unable to send her to school. She decides that she must somehow earn the money herself.

Serafina comes across many setbacks as she works towards going to school, setbacks like earthquakes, floods and obviously the main setback, poverty. Although throughout the book Serafina stays positive and doesn’t give up on her dream.

This book reveals what it is like to live in poverty and you really understand how hard it must be for people in that kind of situation. Serafina’s story is really interesting and I learnt so much about living in poverty through this book.

This is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read and I would give it a 4.5/5! Make sure you read Serafina's Promise by Ann E. Berg
