Ghost Meringues!


Halloween’s coming up! I’m so excited because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! This year I really wanted to make some sort of cute halloween treat! I’ve never made meringues before but I decided to give it a try and make these super cute ghost meringues!

INGREDIENTS

- 4 large egg whites

- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

- 1 cup caster sugar (superfine sugar)

- 1/8 cup mini chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS

1) Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place baking paper or foil onto baking trays.

2) Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy using an electric mixer.

3) Gradually mix sugar in, on high speed. Keep beating it until the egg whites form stiff peaks (when you lift the electric mixer, the egg whites should stay in a peak). This will take at least 7 minutes.

4) Place mixture in a piping bag. If you do not have a piping bag, you can also use a plastic bag and cut a hole in the corner. Pipe onto baking paper, the swirls should be about one centimeter each and you should do about 2-4.

5) Bake the meringues for about 1 hour or until crisp. Remove the meringues from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
